Panhellenic Games
The Panhellenic Games were athletic competitions and oratory/musical competitions held in Greece to honor the Gods. They were held in a four year cycle called an Olympiad. The location of the games would rotate each year. The first year of the cycle, the Olympian Games, were held at Olympia on the Peloponnese Peninsula to honor the God, Zeus. Year two, the Isthmian Games, were held at Isthmia, on the Isthmus of Cornith. They honored Poseidon. The third year was held at Delphi to honor Apollo. They were called the Pythian Games. Year four was called the Nemean Games. The Nemean Games honored Heracles. These games were located near Epidavros, near the Saronic Gulf.
