Epidavros Healing Center
The healing center of Epidavros was built by the Greeks in the 5th century BC and existed through Roman occupation of Greece. Eventually it was destroyed by invading Goths and an earthquake in the 4th century AD. The ancient city had a large temple to honor Asklepios, a stoa, a hospital (where the ill were housed), bathhouses, gymnasium, stadium and a theater. Citizens from all over Greece would come here to stay until they recovered from their illnesses.
