Acropolis
Polis means politics = Acropolis = politics at the top!
The Acropolis is the ancient political city built on a steep-sided rocky plateau in the middle of Athens. The Parthenon and other religious monuments adorn the hill like a crown. The sheer cliffs and narrow entryway provided great defenses against attacks. The structures that remain on and around the Acropolis are the Propylaea, Parthenon, Erechtheion, Temple of Athena Nike, Theater of Dionysus and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.
