The Acropolis Museum
The Acropolis Museum exhibits artifacts from the Parthenon and other buildings on the site. The museum contains original and copies of original sculptures, metopes, friezes, pediments from the archaeological site. To give you a holistic impression of the Parthenon the third floor gallery recreates the dimensions of the building. Some of the panels along the walls are a darker color and some are stark white. The dark ones are original and the white ones are copies of the originals. Many of the original panels reside in the British Museum. See information about Lord Elgin below.
